Synod Hall: It is, simply put, one of the finest acoustic spaces for the performance of early music in the country. While R&B does not own this space, the organization is very fortunate that the Diocese of Pittsburgh rents this facility for performances and other events. In style and acoustics, the auditorium in Synod Hall resembles a Renaissance "oratorio" - a room for orations (and the origin of the musical term).

Dedicated on April 13, 1915, Synod Hall was originally built to be the Chancery building of the Diocese of Pittsburgh with offices for the Bishop and other officials. It includes a library, auditorium, and assembly room. The assembly room was originally intended for use when numerous priests were involved in services in St. Paul Cathedral. The auditorium was designed, as the word 'synod' itself might impart, for meetings of diocesan clergy, lectures, and concerts.
