Mary Tudor: Glorious Music from the Reign of England's Catholic Queen
Saturday, March 16, 2013 8:00 pm Calvary Episcopal Church

Countering the historical view of Mary Tudor as a blood-thirsty tyrant with no love of the arts, a newer picture paints her as a
great patron of music. In this view, the five years of Mary's reign (1553-1558) were ones of extraordinary musical flowering,
when England's greatest composers (White, Parsons, Tye, Tallis) found encouragement to compose the most elaborate and sophisticated
music of which they were capable.
Presented in collaboration with Calvary Episcopal Church.
